Greetings Harding 50th Reunion classmates!

Thank you for the enthusiasm you have shown for our 50th reunion!

Unfortunately, the virus challenges will just not go away. It was announced last week, that N.C. will continue requiring Phase 2 protocols against the Covid-19 virus until September 11. That is cutting it awfully close to our reunion date with no assurance that we would get to a Phase 3 on the 12th. Phase 2 limits us to a 50-person maximum. That's no fun! We have had well over double that number in the past.

The health and safety of our classmates is our primary concern.  Our second priority is to have a phenomenal event with no limits on participation. Because neither can be assured this year, the reunion committee has decided to reschedule the reunion for next year. The new dates are October 22, 2021 to October 24, 2021, with the banquet being held on the evening of Saturday, October 23, 2021.

By postponing, we can maintain our overall plan and add some activities that would have been hampered this year due to distancing and mask-wearing.

Take care of yourselves and follow the protocols for health and safety so that we can all gather for a happy reunion in 2021!

HHS Class of 1970 Reunion Committee

Dear Classmates,

The HHS class of ’70 Reunion Committee is excited to announce that we have dates and a venue for our 50th Reunion!

Our reunion will be held from Friday, September 25, 2020 to Sunday, September 27, 2020 with the banquet taking place on Saturday night at the Hilton Charlotte University Place. We have booked the beautifully appointed Fountainview Exclusive Room for Saturday from 6pm to 12am. The evening will include a wonderful buffet, beverages, a cash bar and a dance floor. The DJ will play all of our favorites and the photographer will capture the memories for us. There is an outdoor balcony for our use and it will be a nice place to continue conversations once the dancing starts. We want to encourage you to consider booking a reservation for two nights (or one) at our discounted rate of $129 so that you can take full advantage of our gathering. We hope that we will be able to visit with you for the entire weekend and are planning some additional activities and opportunities for fun. The Hilton has provided a link for you to make your room reservations where you may also take a virtual tour of the hotel. Click on this link:

Important: If you prefer a handicap accessible room, make your reservation early by calling John Noonan at 704-916-2842 or 704-547-7444.

The committee wants our 50th reunion to be the best one ever and have made every effort to keep our reunion price at $70 per person (for the class of ’70.) To secure the contract, the committee had to pay a deposit and is required to make additional upfront payments at intervals. We need the cash flow, so for those of you who can purchase your banquet tickets early, we will greatly appreciate it! The DJ and Photographer have not been selected yet so we are estimating the cost and money will be tight. As part of our search for classmates, we plan to send postcards to the addresses we have and there is also the concern of keeping our website paid for and running. We have had some offers of donations and those are very welcome! Send your banquet payment and any donations to:

  • Carolinas Telco Federal Credit Union
  • Post Office Box 668467
  • Charlotte, NC 28266-8467

Please make your check payable to Harding High  50th Reunion, and on the memo line of your check, PLEASE put “deposit to Acct #215984-018".

As always, contact us if you have any questions or concerns.  Our 14-member committee will be busy reaching out to classmates we haven’t heard from to get a headcount. And, we still have committee seats open, if anyone interested in helping. We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!
